To μικρού μήκους ντοκιμαντέρ Ψαράδες και ψαρέματα για το παραδοσιακό ψάρεμα και την ζωή των ψαράδων της κοινότητας του Μολύβου της Μυτιλήνης, μας μεταφέρει στη Μήθυμνα 1961, μέσα από εικόνες μιας άλλης εποχής. Στιγμιότυπα από την καθημερινή ζωή των κατοίκων στο ψαροχώρι του Μολύβου και τις καθημερινές δραστηριότητες των ψαράδων, αλλά και τη ζωή στην κοινότητα την Κυριακή. Οι ψαράδες πλέουν στα ανοιχτά σε γρι-γρι. Άποψη του οικισμού του Μολύβου. Καφενείο, τα στενά καλντερίμια και το Κάστρο. Γυναίκες κουβεντιάζουν και πλέκουν έξω από τα σπίτια τους…

Ακολουθώντας την παράδοση του σινεμά της παρατήρησης, η ταινία του Λοΐσιου έγινε με την συνεργασία πρωτοπόρων του μεταπολεμικού κινηματογράφου αλλά και του θεάτρου. Παράλληλα με την ζωή των ψαράδων, η ταινία παρακολουθεί την καθημερινότητα του χωριού μέσα από μια ανθρωπολογική αλλά ταυτόχρονα ποιητική ματιά.

Η αποκατάσταση και ψηφιοποίηση της εικόνας του ντοκιμαντέρ Ψαράδες και Ψαρέματα, έγινε σε 2Κ από το πρώτης γενιάς αρνητικό της ταινίας και άλλα διαθέσιμα υλικά. Η αποκατάσταση και ψηφιοποίηση του ήχου έγινε από το πρώτης γενιάς αρνητικό του ήχου. Η ταινία θα προβληθεί με αγγλικούς και γαλλικούς υπότιτλους

Το έργο πραγματοποιήθηκε στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος ‘A Season of Classic Films’, μια πρωτοβουλία της ΑCE (Association des Cinémathèques Européennes-Ένωση Ευρωπαϊκών Ταινιοθηκών), με την υποστήριξη του προγράμματος Creative Europe MEDIA Programme.

The short-documentary Fishermen and Fishing, documents all forms of traditional fishing and the life of fisherman of the Molivos community in Mytilene, as it transposes us to Mithymna of 1961, through a series of images from another era. As spectators, we witness a slice of life in the fishing village of Molivos and the daily activities of the fishermen, as well as Sunday with the liturgy at the local church and leisure in the coffee shop.

Fishermen sail in the open sea on a purse seine; a view of the settlement of Molivos; a coffeeshop, the narrow cobbled pavements and the Castle; women chatter and weave outside of their homes. One could say that this is an attempt to inaugurate the cinema of observation in Greece. Loissios’ film was a collective effort with people who would become important in the fields of cinema and film criticism. In this film, the anthropological gaze celebrates the poetics of fishing and the rites of communal life, which go back to Homeric times.

The restoration and digitization of the documentary, Fishermen and Fishing, in 2Κ was processed from the original film-negative and other available materials. The sound was also digitally restored and a new 2K master is now available. The film will be screened with English and French subtitles. The project was made possible thanks to the ‘A Season of Classic Films’ programme, an initiative by ACE (Association des Cinémathèques Européennes), with the support of the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme.
